Purchased as a replacement for similiar damaged item. The retractable leash is ideal to give a dog some freedom for exploration and separation from the dog walker. I did find that it does not always retract automatically at its maximum length. Hopefully it may be the influence of cold weather on the gears.

While I like its features, I aware that not everyone will appreciate them. For strong dogs it does tend to give them an advantage in pulling the walker. I would suggest use with a choke collar. It comes with a narrower material collar for the dog but I have never found it helpful for my dog. People need to decide for themselves if the benefit outweights the risks to their safety or others, who can become tangled and hurt by the lead line. The operative issue is your ability to control your dog when he/she is 10-15 feet ahead of you.

I use this leash in conjunction with a leash coupler. I love it! No more tangles!!! I especially love the extra collar it comes with. Since we have a most curious and wiggly young lab and a determined little chihuahua, I can get better control of the lab so as not to yank my little pup all over the place :) A great product. I highly recommend it.
